Athens Metro Line 3 stations close early for night works starting June 15

From Monday 15 June, night‑time maintenance will be carried out on the Athens Metro’s Line 3 between the Panormou and Mint Station (Nomismatopoio). The works, transferred from Line 2 after being completed ahead of schedule, involve replacement of 21.6 km of track and over 1,300 welds.

Five stations – Panormou, KATECHAKI, National Defence, Chalkargos and Mint – will close at 21:40 each night from Sunday to Thursday, about 2½ hours earlier than usual. Train movements will be limited to the sector between Demotiko Theatro‑Ambelokipi and Agia Paraskevi‑P. Plakentias‑Airport. The latest trains will depart from designated platforms before the early closures.

To compensate passengers, OASA will run a temporary bus service X20 (Ambelokipi – Chalandri) during the same hours. The operator emphasized that the measures are necessary to complete the upgrades, which are expected to improve daily commuting once finished.
