Thessaloniki woman sentenced for arson against neighbor

A 58-year-old woman has been sentenced to 15 months in prison by the Summary Misdemeanor Court of Thessaloniki for multiple arson attacks against her neighbor's apartment door in the Toumpa area.

The sentence is convertible to a fine of ten euros per day. The court noted that the defendant acted with diminished responsibility. The victim testified that the incidents began on September 22, when she discovered fire residue on her door. Subsequent attacks involved the use of napkins and cologne to ignite the entrance. The victim, who had lived in the same building for 50 years without prior conflict, stated she was forced to flee her home due to fear.

The defendant's son testified that his mother believed she was hearing voices from the neighbor's apartment, attributing her actions to psychiatric issues. A legal representative for the defendant apologized for the behavior, stating that she is currently receiving necessary psychiatric care.
