Thessaloniki: Dead dolphin found entangled in fishing nets

A dead dolphin weighing approximately 140 kilograms was discovered in the Thermaic Gulf at the port of Thessaloniki. The marine mammal was found entangled in fishing nets.

The Hellenic Coast Guard conducted an operation to remove the animal from the water. Following this, employees from the Municipality of Thessaloniki arrived at the scene to collect the carcass for sanitary burial procedures. The incident highlights the ongoing risks that abandoned or lost fishing gear poses to marine life due to human activity.
