Thessaloniki Flyover receives €64.3 million extra compensation
The Thessaloniki regional flyover project has been awarded an additional €64.3 million in compensation to cover redesigns and supplementary works, raising the total budget to over €520 million (including VAT). The deadline for completion has been moved to 14 May 2027, and the public sector will fund the extra amount through the Public Investment Programme, disbursing it in three instalments (June 2026, September 2026, and upon final certification).
The original amendment had projected €83.44 million, but the figure was reduced by €16.7 million after negotiations. The Ministry of Infrastructure declined to grant a further time extension, citing the flyover’s status as a project of national significance, and instead ordered an intensification of works, including increased staffing and revised methodologies. Six specific complementary tasks—such as relocating a water‑storage tank and redesigning technical sections—remain pending, with any extra costs to be covered by the assigning authority.
