Thessaloniki homeowners use murals to prevent house vandalism
Homeowners in the Ano Poli district of Thessaloniki are turning to art to combat recurring vandalism. To protect their properties from graffiti and slogans, residents have commissioned murals to cover their walls.
Artist Suzzy Kamaliani recently completed a Japanese-themed mural on a traditional home at the request of owners who are admirers of Japanese culture. The artwork includes depictions of cherry blossoms, traditional Japanese houses, and Hokusai’s ‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa’.
This follows a previous project by Kamaliani in February, where she painted a mural of colorful bougainvillea on another local home. The owners reported that the artwork has successfully deterred further vandalism on that property.
