Thessaloniki launches free neighborhood outdoor cinema program

The Municipality of Thessaloniki, through its Deputy Mayor for Culture and Tourism Development, has launched a neighborhood cinema initiative. In collaboration with Parenthesis and the Picnic Urban Festival, the program will transform squares, parks, and schoolyards into open-air cinemas from September 8 to September 30.

The initiative aims to decentralize culture by bringing film screenings to all municipal communities in the city. The project is intended to serve as a foundation for a future Open Air Film Festival, modeled after successful European outdoor cinema events that utilize public spaces as cultural meeting points.
