Thessaloniki launches new ferry service to Sporades islands

On Friday 26 June 2026 the first SeaJets Speedrunner Jet sailed from Thessaloniki to the Sporades (Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos), marking the start of a new year‑round ferry connection. The line operates five times a week, with departures at 07:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday and at 08:30 on Thursday; return trips run in the afternoons on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. The inaugural sail carried 769 passengers at about 95 % capacity.

Ticket prices remain unchanged from the previous year – €36.70 to Skiathos, €40.30 to Skopelos and €48 to Alonissos for a basic fare, with higher‑class seats and student discounts available. The service was funded with €3.41 million in state subsidies from the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy, in partnership with the regions of Central Macedonia and Thessaly. Travel agent Haris Karacharis noted the strong demand, saying “the occupancies for the first two days are around 95 %, and it’s the sixth consecutive year the route is needed because people want it.”
