Thessaloniki launches tourism campaign targeting Balkans and Germany
The Municipality of Thessaloniki is launching a social media advertising campaign targeting the Balkans and Germany to promote the city as a year-round destination. The current focus is on attracting visitors for the holiday period between October 26 and 28, highlighting the city's landmarks, culture, and gastronomy.
Deputy Mayor Vasilis Gakis stated that the strategy involves both 'push' methods through travel agents and 'pull' methods to increase consumer awareness. Following a recent promotional visit to Romania by Mayor Stelios Angeloudis, the city plans to continue international outreach, including upcoming marketing efforts in the German market and organized press and fam trips for journalists and travel professionals.
Local hotel associations report increased demand and early bookings from tourists originating from Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, and Germany for the upcoming October long weekend.
