Thessaloniki court convicts man for stalking ex-partner via IRIS app

A 35-year-old man has been convicted by the Thessaloniki Single-Member Misdemeanor Court for domestic threats against his former partner. The man used the IRIS banking application to send hundreds of erotic and threatening messages via transaction descriptions after the woman had blocked him on all social media platforms.

The victim testified that the relationship, which began with colleagues, turned abusive due to the man's extreme jealousy. She reported that he harassed her at her workplace, followed her, and spent months loitering outside her home, making her feel unable to leave her house.

The court sentenced the defendant to one year of imprisonment with a three-year suspension, and imposed a prohibition on communicating with or approaching the victim.
