Thessaloniki public transport to operate 24 hours for road safety campaign

In Thessaloniki, public transportation services including the metro and selected bus lines will operate on a 24-hour basis this Saturday, October 17. This initiative is part of the 20th ‘European Night Without Accidents,’ organized by the ‘Panos Mylonas’ Road Safety Institute.

The campaign aims to promote road safety and prevent accidents related to alcohol consumption, emphasizing the message ‘Alcohol and driving do not go together!’ To facilitate safe travel for citizens, the Thessaloniki Urban Transport Organization (OASTH) will run lines 14, 27, 32, and the night line N1 (KTEL – Airport) around the clock. Additionally, KTEL lines 58 and 66 will also provide 24-hour service.

Volunteers will be present at various nightlife locations to encourage responsible behavior and promote the concept of a ‘Group Leader’—a person who commits to not consuming alcohol to ensure the safe return of their companions.
