Thessaloniki Metropolitan Summit to focus on Southeast Europe 2030

The 6th Thessaloniki Metropolitan Summit, organized by powergame.gr and The Economist, will take place on September 3 and 4 in Thessaloniki. Under the theme ‘With a 2030 Horizon: Connectivity and Growth for Southeast Europe,’ the summit aims to map the future position of Greece and neighboring countries amidst significant geopolitical shifts.

Key discussion topics include the vertical energy corridor, digital infrastructure, and the post-Recovery Fund era. The event will address long-term developmental challenges facing Europe, such as low productivity, demographic pressures, and structural weaknesses like the fragmentation of capital markets.

The summit features high-level speakers, including Kyriakos Pierrakakis, President of the Eurogroup and Minister of National Economy and Finance, alongside Oxford University professor Peter Frankopan. Other sessions will cover energy security, trade, defense, and the geopolitical importance of the Southeast Mediterranean and Eastern Mediterranean regions.
