Thessaloniki police arrest two men for domestic violence and assault

Police in Thessaloniki have arrested two men following separate reports of domestic violence and sexual assault.

A 44-year-old man is in custody facing charges of sexual assault against his common-law wife, a 35-year-old Georgian national. The incident reportedly occurred in an apartment in central Thessaloniki, where the victim alleges she was forced into sexual acts through violence and prevented from leaving the premises. The prosecutor has filed charges including sexual assault against a family member without consent, domestic physical injury, and domestic threats.

In a separate incident, a 43-year-old man was arrested by the Lefkos Pyrgos Domestic Violence Office after his 39-year-old wife reported domestic violence. During the investigation, police from the Thermi Traffic Department also apprehended the man while he was driving his wife's vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He reportedly engaged in dangerous driving, resisted arrest, and was found in possession of a sharp metal object.
