Thessaloniki security: 3,500 police deployed for International Fair

The Hellenic Police have launched an extensive security operation in Thessaloniki ahead of the Thessaloniki International Fair (DETh). The plan involves deploying over 3,500 officers and 55 platoons from various regions, including Athens, to secure the city.

Increased security measures are set to begin on Thursday, September 3, reaching their peak during the first weekend of the fair. This period coincides with the Prime Minister's scheduled speech and press conference. Law enforcement will focus on protecting political figures, monitoring planned union gatherings and protests, and patrolling key urban areas.

In addition to the heavy police presence, the Traffic Police are preparing significant road adjustments. Major arteries and roads surrounding the exhibition center will face restrictions, diversions, and closures to manage the expected influx of people and various political and labor demonstrations.
