Thessaloniki police dismantle criminal group targeting supermarkets

Police in western Thessaloniki have dismantled a criminal organization responsible for a series of robberies targeting supermarkets and retail stores. Between August 1 and August 26, 2026, the group carried out 16 thefts—15 from supermarkets and one from a small retail shop—across the areas of Kordelio, Evosmos, Stavroupoli, Neapoli, Pefki, and Oreokastro.

Authorities arrested three individuals, aged 23, 25, and 33, while a 42-year-old suspect remains identified in the investigation. The group utilized a passenger vehicle to facilitate their crimes, operating with varying compositions of members during each incident.

The stolen goods were valued at over 4,000 euros, along with 110 euros in cash. Additionally, the group caused extensive property damage to the targeted establishments exceeding 16,000 euros. The suspects face charges including the formation of a criminal organization, aggravated theft, disobedience, and damage to property.
