Thessaloniki road closures extended for flyover construction

A six‑hour closure of the Eastern Inner Ring Road in Thessaloniki was imposed from 23:00 on 10 June to 05:00 on 11 June to allow work on a new flyover. Drivers were directed to detour via the city centre and specific side streets, and entry to the road from the hospital ramp was prohibited.

Starting at 23:00 on 12 June, a 48‑hour full closure of both directions of the same road began, covering the area around the K11 (Pylaias) junction. Heavy‑truck traffic over 3.5 tonnes was barred during parts of the weekend, and additional restrictions applied to the nearby airbridge and several city streets. Alternative routes were marked through Prasakaki, John Kennedy, and other adjoining roads, with officials urging motorists to avoid unnecessary trips and follow signage to prevent congestion and accidents.
