Thessaloniki road works and power outage disrupt traffic in July
On July 14‑16, maintenance crews of the Central Macedonia Region carried out road maintenance and cleaning on several main routes in Thessaloniki, imposing temporary lane closures and partial shutdowns. The works include: - Internal Regional Road (Kopí Prasínou) between the Lachanagóra (K16) interchange and the Eastern Regional exit (K5), with the right lane blocked in short intervals. - EO Thessaloniki–Nea Moudania, where the left lane is intermittently closed for median cleaning. - EO Thessaloniki–Serres, a section from Dorkada to Evangelistria, scheduled for about ten days. - 27th Provincial Road Thessaloniki–N. Michaniona, where a median replacement is underway. - 28th Provincial Road Thessaloniki–Plagia–Epanomi, involving vegetation clearing and drainage cleaning. All works start between 06:00‑08:00 and run until sunset, with some extensions to July 15‑16.
Separately, on July 12 a planned power outage affected residents of western Thessaloniki from 08:00 to 12:30 due to maintenance by the Public Power Corporation (DEH). The outage covered neighborhoods such as Palaio Melasta and surrounding streets, leaving households without electricity for a few hours.
