Thessaloniki schools to follow modified schedule in late October

Students and educators in Thessaloniki will experience a six-day period of non-standard school schedules from October 23 to October 28, 2026. This disruption is caused by a combination of local and national holidays.

On Friday, October 23, schools will hold commemorative events for the October 28 anniversary, requiring student attendance without regular lessons. Following the weekend, Monday, October 26, is a local holiday celebrating Saint Demetrios, during which schools in the Municipality of Thessaloniki will be closed.

On Tuesday, October 27, a student parade will take place in the city center, and Wednesday, October 28, is a national holiday marking the ‘OXI’ anniversary, featuring a military parade. Regular academic instruction is scheduled to resume on Thursday, October 29.
