Thessaloniki stabbing: Woman released after attack in 40 Ekklisies
A 25-year-old woman has been released without restrictive conditions following a stabbing incident in the 40 Ekklisies area of Thessaloniki. The woman, who is currently receiving treatment at G. Gennimatas Hospital and is reported to be out of danger, provided her testimony at the hospital to the 6th regular investigating magistrate and the prosecutor.
The incident occurred last Thursday morning after the woman and a 31-year-old man met through an online platform and met at the man's residence. The woman claims she was the victim of an unprovoked attack involving two knives, one of which broke during the struggle, causing serious injuries including a wound to her lung. She stated she managed to escape the apartment bleeding to seek help.
The 31-year-old man, who remains in custody, faces charges of attempted murder, illegal weapons possession, and weapons use. He has denied the woman's version of events, claiming instead that she attempted to rob him by looking at his watch. The investigating magistrate has ordered a psychiatric evaluation for the man.
