Thessaloniki: Suspect denies involvement in Vagia Nestor murder
A 24-year-old student provided a supplementary statement to a Thessaloniki investigating magistrate regarding the fatal attack on Vagia Nestor, the mother of New Democracy politician Aphrodite Nestor. The suspect, who is the owner of the apartment used during the attack, denied involvement in the killing, claiming he was unaware of the true purpose for which the premises were being used.
The investigation is being upgraded to include charges related to terrorist activities, which carry heavier penalties. The indictment includes charges of murder with potential intent, involvement in a terrorist organization, explosion, possession of explosives, and arson. The case also involves two arson attacks using gas canisters that occurred on the same day in July. The suspect remains in custody following his appearance at the Thessaloniki Courts.
