Thessaloniki terrorism probe: Four suspects held in Nestora family attack

Four suspects are in custody following a fatal attack on the home of the Nestora family in Thessaloniki. The incident, which involved an improvised explosive device made of gas canisters and flammable liquid, resulted in the death of Vagia Nestora and injuries to several family members, including New Democracy politician Aphrodite Nestora.

Two primary suspects, aged 29 and 26, recently provided supplementary testimony to an investigator in Thessaloniki. Their charges have been upgraded to include offenses under anti-terrorism laws, such as membership in a terrorist organization, attempted murder, explosion, and arson. Two other co-defendants—a 24-year-old apartment owner and a 25-year-old who allegedly handled keys to the property—are also being held.

Aphrodite Nestora described the event as a highly organized and systematic ambush intended to kill. Investigators are also linking this incident to two previous arson attacks targeting the homes of Zisis Ioakeimovitch and Savvas Anastasiadis.
