Thessaloniki to host Sing for Greece 2027 Eurovision national final
Thessaloniki has been selected to host the Eurovision national final, ‘Sing for Greece 2027’, marking a departure from previous years when the event was held in Athens. The public broadcaster ERT announced that the competition will consist of three musical nights: two semi-finals and a grand final, scheduled for next February. The winner will represent Greece at the 71st Eurovision Song Contest in Burgas, Bulgaria, in May 2027.
During the semi-finals, up to 20 songs will compete, with the public selecting 12 participants to advance to the final. The ultimate winner will be determined by a combination of public voting and jury scores. The deadline for song and artist submissions is Sunday, November 1, at 23:59.
Regarding the presentation of the event, discussions are ongoing. Reports indicate that Maria Kozakou has expressed a desire not to host the national final, though she may still participate in Eurovision commentary. The role of Giorgos Kapoutzidis remains unconfirmed, as ERT has not yet made an official approach while the actor is abroad. Other potential candidates, such as Fokas Evangelinos, have also not yet been officially contacted by the broadcaster.
