Thessaloniki wildfire leaves elderly woman critically injured

A wildfire involving low vegetation broke out in the Panorama area of Thessaloniki, resulting in a woman being hospitalized with severe injuries. Firefighting forces, including 20 firefighters and six vehicles, responded to the scene to extinguish the blaze.

During the operation, firefighters discovered an unconscious woman. Reports suggest she may be a 78-year-old woman with dementia who had been missing from the Thermi area for two days. She was transported by ambulance to Hippocrates Hospital, where she is currently in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit with burns covering approximately 60% of her body.

The Thessaloniki Arson Crimes Investigation Unit has been mobilized to determine the cause of the fire.
