Thessaly apple farmers face significant heatwave damage

A delegation from the Thessaly Region conducted inspections in the municipalities of Zagora-Mouresi, Volos (Drakia), and South Pelion (Vyzitsa) to assess significant damage to apple crops. The damage was caused by a late and prolonged heatwave that impacted the region starting from August 15.

The inspection team, led by Deputy Regional Prefect for Primary Sector and Agricultural Economy Dimitrios Tsetsila, included regional agricultural directors, a professor of pomology from the University of Thessaly, and local agricultural experts. The group met with local mayors, deputy mayors, and representatives from various agricultural associations to evaluate the extent of the losses in the orchards and fields.
