Thessaly approves €27.8 million for 799 young farmers

The General Directorate of Regional Rural Economy and Veterinary Medicine in the Thessaly Region has approved 799 applications for the ‘Establishment of Young Farmers’ program. This initiative is part of the first call under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) Strategic Plan 2023–2027.

The total expenditure for these approved applications amounts to €27,847,500, resulting in an average support of approximately €34,852 per holding. This funding is intended to serve as startup capital for new entrepreneurs in the agriculture and livestock sectors.

Regional Vice Governor Dimitrios Tsetsilas stated that the completion of this administrative review is a significant step toward strengthening young people in the primary sector, aiming to make the region's production more resilient and competitive. Thessaly currently leads in approvals for this program, absorbing nearly double the funds allocated to Northern Greece.
