Thessaly forest ecosystems discussed at scientific symposium

A scientific symposium held at the new Larissa Administration building focused on the health and resilience of forest ecosystems in Thessaly. Organized by the Thessaly Region's Environment Vice-Region, the General Secretariat of Forests, and the Forest Policy Enforcement Inspectorate of Thessaly & Central Greece, the event addressed threats such as droughts, pathogens, and climate pressures.

Vice-Regional Governor for the Environment, Photi Lamprinidis, emphasized the need for coordinated planning and timely intervention from all stakeholders to face new climate challenges. He also noted the connection between forest management and civil protection, drawing on lessons learned from Storm Daniel. The symposium aimed to present proposals for the prevention, protection, and restoration of the region's forests.
