Thessaly funds civil protection for Sofades with €300,000

The Region of Thessaly has allocated €300,000 from the European Regional Development Fund to strengthen civil‑protection capabilities in the municipality of Sofades. The funding, incorporated into the "Thessaly 2021‑2027" programme under the "Environment and Resilience" priority, will finance an articulated loader equipped with anti‑erosion technology and two 4×4 pick‑up trucks.

Regional Governor Dimitris Kourets said the investment moves the municipality from post‑event response toward early prevention and continuous readiness, helping to address recurring floods, landslides, fires and other climate‑related hazards.
