Thessaly Governor visits The Demitra wine cooperative
Thessaly Regional Governor Dimitris Kouretas visited the ‘The Demitra’ Agricultural Wine Cooperative in Nea Anchialos to assess its production capacity and ongoing recovery efforts. The cooperative, which consists of 100 member producers, operates across 20,000 square meters of facilities.
Significant portions of the facilities have undergone renovation following extensive damage caused by a recent fire and Storm Daniel. Despite the damage to roofs and electrical systems occurring shortly before the grape harvest, the cooperative successfully restored its core infrastructure to support its members.
The facility processes up to 10,000 tons of raw material, with an estimated harvest of 5,000 tons this year. In addition to wine production, the cooperative operates a tsipouro plant with an annual production of approximately 450,000 liters, including varieties with licorice. The cooperative contributes roughly 1.5 million euros annually in taxes related to tsipouro production.
