Thessaly hosts consultation on new Common Agricultural Policy
The Region of Thessaly is hosting a consultation in Larissa to discuss the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) for the 2028–2034 period. The event, scheduled for August 26, 2026, at the JOIST Innovation Park, aims to provide a scientifically grounded discussion regarding upcoming changes and their impact on the region.
Three prominent agricultural policy scientists will participate in the consultation: Kostas Karandinis from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Konstantinos Mattas, a professor emeritus from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and Ioannis Doukas, an assistant professor from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
The experts will address various dimensions of the CAP, including production models, agri-food value chains, the impact of agricultural policy on regional economies, and institutional reforms and governance. The initiative seeks to define the positions Thessaly will take in shaping the new European agricultural framework.
