Thessaly police undergo training to support citizens with visual impairments
Police officers from all directorates in Thessaly participated in an educational seminar held on October 8, 2026, at the Magnesia Police Headquarters in Volos. The training focused on the proper communication, approach, and safe support of citizens with visual impairments.
The seminar aimed to provide practical skills for emergency situations, such as traffic accidents, extreme weather events, and area evacuations, where immediate and safe guidance is required. The session included interactive and experiential training led by experts from the Center for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind (KEAT).
The initiative was organized by the General Regional Police Directorate of Thessaly, following a proposal from the Magnets Blind Association of Magnesia, in collaboration with KEAT and the Magnesia Police Directorate. The timing of the event was symbolic, occurring shortly before October 15, the International White Cane Day.
