Thessaly Region launches student awareness initiative
The Thessaly Region has launched a new educational initiative aimed at secondary school students. The program focuses on critical social issues, including human dignity, school violence, substance abuse prevention, and the importance of sports.
Central to the initiative is the inclusion of people with disabilities (PWDs) and the promotion of athletic ideals. The program will be implemented in collaboration with the Directorate of Secondary Education starting this autumn under the framework ‘Sports and Health for All, Without Exceptions.’
Regional Governor Dimitris Kouretas met with Symeon Paltsanitidis, a former national wheelchair basketball player and president of Olympians with disabilities, to discuss the implementation. Paltsanitidis, a Paralympian in discus throw and a marathon runner, will lead lessons to encourage students toward sports, volunteerism, and personal resilience.
