Thessaly Region reinstates Larissa–Farsala–Athens bus route
The Thessaly Regional Committee has approved the reinstatement of the direct bus route connecting Larissa, Farsala, and Athens. The decision, led by Regional Governor Dimitris Kouretas, aims to resolve a long-standing demand from the local community by providing a direct connection to the capital and eliminating the need for transfers through other cities.
The contract has been awarded to the regional transport provider, Larissa KTEL, for a duration of one year. The plan includes a total of 110 round-trip services, with the bus scheduled to run twice a week in each direction.
The project is fully funded by the Thessaly Region's budget, with a total annual expenditure of €70,229.50 (including 13% VAT). The funding is distributed with €23,409.83 allocated for 2026 and €46,819.67 for 2027. Once formal signing procedures are complete, the service will be implemented to assist students, workers, and residents of the Farsala province.
