Thessaly Regional Council reviews Agrias–Malaki road project

The Thessaly Regional Council is set to discuss the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) for the Agrias–Lechonia–Malaki regional road project. Magnesia and Sporades Vice Regional Governor Anna Maria Papadimitriou stated that the project's route, extending from the existing regional road at Asteria to Malaki, has been finalized by the Ministry and cannot be modified by the Region.

The project cost is estimated between €45 million and €80 million, excluding expropriations, with a maximum completion timeline of three to four years. Following approval, further studies regarding hydraulics, technical works, and land registry will be conducted. Citizens concerned about environmental or property impacts may submit written objections or speak during the session.

In a separate development, the People's Rally party voted against the proposed amendment to the Thessaly Regional Technical Program. Party leader Tasos Tsiaples criticized the regional administration's reliance on private consultants for studies and maintenance services, advocating instead for permanent technical staff. The party also called for increased focus on fire and earthquake protection for regional buildings and the completion of the Larissa-Volos road improvement study.
