Thessaly Regional Council to hold accountability session on labor and infrastructure
The Thessaly Regional Council is scheduled to hold its 4th Special Accountability Session on October 8, 2026. The meeting will address several critical regional issues, including road safety, infrastructure, water supply, and labor rights.
A primary focus of the session involves the employment status of cleaning workers. The political group Laiki Syneirosi Thessalias has raised concerns regarding workers who have been employed for years—in some cases over two decades—under a system of fixed grants rather than stable employment contracts. The group argues that these workers perform permanent and continuous duties but lack secured rights and stable labor relations due to long-standing regional policies.
Other agenda items include inquiries regarding the Trikala–Arta road section, safety on Diminiou Street, water supply issues in Eastern Karditsa (Smokovo), and the status of the Rakopotamos–Keramidi road axis.
