Thái Nguyên’s La Hiên Bananas Earn 3‑Star OCOP Certification, Boosting Farmers’ Income

More than 300 hectares of banana trees in La Hiên commune, Thái Nguyên province, produce over 3,300 tonnes annually. The fruit is grown under the VIETGAP standard and has received the OCOP “3‑star” certification, allowing farmers to sell at prices 30‑50% higher than ordinary bananas, ranging from VND 35,000 to 60,000 per kilogram.

A typical family, such as that of Triệu Thị Tuyến, cultivates about 1.5 ha under VIETGAP and earns VND 150‑180 million each year. The provincial People’s Committee, led by Chairman Vương Quốc Tuấn, organized a sales‑promotion event on July 31–August 1 to expand market channels and further raise the brand value of La Hiên bananas, aiming to increase rural incomes and support poverty‑reduction efforts.
