Thiago Almada diagnosed with muscle tear, missing Argentina call-up

Thiago Almada has been diagnosed with a grade 1 tear in his left quadriceps following an injury sustained during River Plate's 2-1 loss to Huracán. The injury occurred early in the match, forcing Almada to be substituted by Lucas Beltrán.

As a result of the diagnosis, Almada will miss the upcoming FIFA international window with the Argentina national team. He was previously called up by coach Lionel Scaloni for friendly matches against Bolivia, Burkina Faso, and Benin. While the exact recovery timeline depends on clinical evolution, estimates suggest a period of approximately three weeks.

In addition to Almada, River Plate teammate Tobías Andrada also left the field during the match due to a muscle issue, though his condition is reported as a less severe contraction. Almada's absence poses a challenge for River's interim manager, Leonardo Ponzio, as the club prepares for upcoming Torneo Clausura fixtures.
