Thiago Almada near €30 million transfer from Atletico Madrid to Flamengo
Brazilian club Flamengo is in the final stage of negotiations to sign Argentine midfielder Thiago Almada from Atletico Madrid. Personal terms have been agreed and the two clubs are working on a transfer fee estimated between €27 million and €30 million, with Flamengo likely to sign the player on a four‑year contract running to 2030. Flamengo’s director of football José Boto and the club’s president Luiz Eduardo Baptista are overseeing the deal, while Atletico’s sporting director Mateo Alemany has set the exit price at the €20 million initially paid for half of Almada’s rights, now rising due to Flamengo’s push. The remaining issue is the payment structure, which both sides expect to resolve without derailing the transfer. Almada has not featured for Atletico this season and is reportedly eager to return to Brazil, having previously played for Botafogo. The move would give Flamengo a high‑profile addition as it continues a period of heavy spending, following the re‑signing of Lucas Paquetá.
