Thiago Miranda shuts down Mithi agency amid Brazil Central Bank investigation

Brazilian advertising executive Thiago Miranda, suspected of coordinating a media campaign to undermine the Central Bank on behalf of ex‑banker Daniel Vorcaro of Banco Master, announced the closure of his agency Mithi and a year‑long sabbatical. Federal Police seized phones and equipment from Miranda’s residence as part of an inquiry into alleged payments to digital influencers, the creation of dossiers, and attempts to intimidate journalist Malu Gaspar and target Itaú CEO Milton Maluhy. Contracts linked to the operation were valued at up to R$ 8 million, with R$ 3.5 million paid after receiving funds from Vorcaro’s Super Empreendimentos. Miranda denied any wrongdoing, stating, “Estou cansado. Foram dez anos ininterruptos…”, and his lawyers asserted his actions were lawful. Prosecutors say the conduct could constitute crimes against the financial system, organized crime, and obstruction of justice, while the case remains under investigation.
