Thiago Tirante upsets Novak Djokovic at Cincinnati Masters 1000

Argentine tennis player Thiago Tirante secured a major upset at the Cincinnati Masters 1000 by defeating Novak Djokovic in the second round. Tirante, ranked 50th in the ATP, won the match with a score of 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 in a contest lasting 2 hours and 44 minutes.

Djokovic, the world number 5 and a three-time Cincinnati champion, struggled significantly with extreme heat and humidity in Ohio. During the second set, the 39-year-old Serbian required medical attention and exhibited signs of physical distress, including difficulty breathing and vomiting. Despite a strong first set from Djokovic, Tirante capitalized on the veteran's physical decline to mount a comeback.

Tirante, who previously defeated top-10 players like Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton this season, will advance to the third round to face Spaniard Martín Landaluce. Djokovic will now shift his focus toward the US Open in New York.
