Thibau Nys returns to cyclocross at Koppenbergcross

Belgian champion Thibau Nys is set to make his seasonal cyclocross debut this Sunday at the Koppenbergcross. Nys noted that his preparation is less than ideal, having completed only three weeks of training following his road season and a brief holiday in Tokyo. He stated, “I don’t see myself as the savior of cyclocross,” while acknowledging the sport's need for compelling personalities in the absence of Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert.

In the women's category, Fem van Empel is confirmed to participate despite initial reports suggesting her absence. She will compete alongside world champion Lucinda Brand and other top riders.

Several notable names will be absent from the men's race, including Niels Vandeputte, Felipe Orts, and Joran Wyseure, who is recovering from illness. Michael Vanthourenhout is expected to be among the main contenders alongside Nys.
