Thibaut Courtois ranks himself fifth among greatest goalkeepers

In a recent DAZN segment, Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois participated in a ranking exercise to identify the greatest goalkeepers of all time. To ensure an unbiased selection, Courtois was presented with ten names one by one, requiring him to assign a rank to each player without knowing which names would follow.

The final ranking placed Manuel Neuer, Gianluigi Buffon, and Iker Casillas at the top of the list. Courtois included fellow Belgians Michel Preud'homme and Jean-Marie Pfaff in his selection, placing Preud'homme seventh and Pfaff ninth.

When his own name was presented last, only the fifth position remained. Courtois chose to place himself in that spot, stating, “Because it is not for me to place myself higher.” He noted that while he often hears he belongs in the top three or four, he believes the resulting list is accurate.
