Real Madrid's Courtois returns to training under new coach Mourinho

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has returned to preseason training following an injury sustained during the 2026 World Cup quarter-final against Spain. Courtois began with individual sessions to ensure his physical condition was optimal before reintegrating with the squad.

Courtois expressed strong support for new manager José Mourinho, citing their previous successful partnership at Chelsea. He praised Mourinho’s emphasis on discipline and group cohesion over individualities, stating, “He says things as they are and I like that.”

The club is also managing a significant roster overhaul. Recent arrivals include Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konaté, Yan Diomande, Denzel Dumfries, Bernardo Silva, and Carlos Espí. Meanwhile, the club is working on squad management, with reports indicating that Aurélien Tchouaméni is considered a key pillar for Mourinho and will remain at the club. The management is also looking to finalize departures to maintain a streamlined squad of approximately 20 fixed players.
