Thijs Dallinga suffers serious knee injury at FC Köln

Dutch striker Thijs Dallinga has suffered a serious knee injury, confirmed to be a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). The injury occurred during a friendly match involving the FC Köln Under-23 side.

Dallinga, who joined FC Köln on loan from Bologna FC, had enjoyed a strong start to his Bundesliga campaign, scoring two goals in his recent debut. The injury is expected to require surgery and will sideline the player for several months, potentially impacting his entire season.

The setback also carries financial implications for both clubs. Dallinga’s move to Germany was structured as a loan worth 1 million euros with an option to buy for approximately 10 to 11 million euros. The lengthy recovery period may influence FC Köln’s decision regarding the permanent transfer at the end of the season.
