Thirston Lawrence wins third Omega European Masters title

South African golfer Thirston Lawrence has won the Omega European Masters for the third time, securing his place as a dominant figure at the Crans-Montana course. After a difficult third round left him six strokes behind leader Paul Casey, Lawrence produced a remarkable bogey-free 62 in the final round to finish at 18-under par.

Lawrence and Casey finished regulation play tied, forcing a dramatic playoff on the Severiano Ballesteros course. Following three consecutive par saves on the 18th hole, Lawrence clinched the victory on the fourth playoff hole with a six-meter birdie putt. This marks Lawrence’s sixth DP World Tour success and his third title at this event, joining the ranks of Seve Ballesteros.

Swiss golfer Joel Girrbach also delivered a notable performance, finishing in ninth place.
