Thiruchendur Temple sees large crowds for full moon rituals

Thousands of devotees gathered at the Thiruchendur Arulmigu Subramanya Swamy Temple in Tamil Nadu to observe rituals during the full moon. Many pilgrims stayed overnight on the beach near the temple, lighting lamps in the sand and performing moon worship.

The temple, dedicated to Lord Murugan, is one of six sacred sites and is situated on the coast of the Bay of Bengal. Historically significant and mentioned in Sangam literature, the site is estimated to be between 2,000 and 3,000 years old. The influx of worshippers was further bolstered by the weekend and school holidays.
