Thiès court acquits driver accused of mobile phone theft
The Thiès District Court has acquitted a professional driver, identified as Ibrahima, who was accused of stealing two mobile phones from the residence of a Mr. Faye.
The incident reportedly occurred around 6:00 AM when Ibrahima entered the home and a bedroom, where he allegedly placed two phones in his pockets. Mr. Faye discovered the man inside the house and conducted a search, finding the devices on his person. The driver was subsequently detained and placed in custody.
During the trial, Ibrahima denied the theft, claiming he was heavily intoxicated and had mistakenly entered his neighbor's house instead of his own. While the prosecution requested the strict application of the law, the court ultimately decided to grant the defendant the benefit of the doubt and issued an acquittal.
