Thitichett Nutchanart faces NACC probes over bribery and ethics

Former Election Commission member Somchai Srisutthiyakorn has called for increased efficiency within the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) regarding two ongoing investigations involving Election Commission (EC) member Thitichett Nutchanart.

The first case involves allegations regarding the use of a private wine cooler within a government office. Following an investigation by the State Audit Office (SAO), it was determined the cooler was personal property and not registered as official equipment, leading to an ethics probe by the NACC.

The second case concerns an alleged 300,000 baht bribe intended to facilitate a promotion for a civil servant from level 8 to level 9 within the SAO. This matter has led to legal complaints and remains under investigation.

Separately, Thitichett recently declined to comment to the media regarding whether the investigation into alleged interference in the Senatorial election process would conclude next week, citing the need to attend an EC meeting. There are ongoing calls from legal experts and reserve senators for Thitichett to recuse himself from voting on the Senatorial election case to ensure transparency.
