Thăng Long - Hà Nội Festival 2026 to open at Imperial Citadel

The second Thăng Long - Hà Nội Festival, themed “Heritage Flow”, is scheduled to open on the evening of September 11, 2026, at the Imperial Citadel of Thăng Long. Directed by Phạm Hoàng Giang, the event aims to present Hanoi’s thousand-year heritage through a contemporary lens, blending traditional arts with modern technology.

The program is designed to move beyond linear historical reenactments, instead creating a continuous flow between the past, present, and future. Key features include the use of augmented reality (AR) to enhance heritage sites and a semi-scenic staging approach that utilizes the ancient architecture of the Citadel as an integral part of the performance.

The opening ceremony will feature a diverse lineup of artists across generations, including veteran performers like NSND Thanh Hoài and NSƯT Văn Ty, alongside contemporary names such as Tùng Dương, Kiều Anh, and the group OPLUS. The festival will run from September 11 to September 20, 2026, across various cultural and heritage spaces in the capital.
