Thạnh Lộc Park construction uncovers two unidentified graves

During the construction of Thạnh Lộc Park in An Phú Đông Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, workers discovered two unidentified graves. The graves, found at a depth of 0.5 to 0.75 meters while excavating foundations for a flower trellis, lacked tombstones or any identifying markers.

One grave was found intact with its coffin, while the second contained a coffin that had lost its lid. Following the discovery on August 10, construction in the immediate area was halted, and local authorities, including the An Phú Đông Ward People's Committee and the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board, recorded the scene.

Local authorities have conducted reviews with neighborhood management and residents, but no families have yet come forward to claim the remains. The An Phú Đông Ward People's Committee is leading efforts to locate relatives and will oversee the relocation and reburial of the remains in accordance with health regulations, environmental sanitation, and traditional spiritual rituals. Information regarding the graves is being publicly posted at the ward headquarters.
