Thodoris Atheridis responds to backlash over doctor comments

Greek actor Thodoris Atheridis has addressed the controversy surrounding his recent remarks regarding Ioanna Gaka, the detained doctor implicated in the Giorgos Mazonakis case. During an appearance on the program ‘Kalitera De Ginetai’ on Alpha, Atheridis stated that his comments are intended for those who can understand them and noted that he is not concerned by negative reactions.

Atheridis explained that his perspective is rooted in his professional background as an actor. He recalled advice from Manousos Manousakis during the filming of the series ‘To Dichti’, which emphasized the importance of empathy and understanding the psychology of both criminals and law enforcement officers to better portray characters.

The actor previously drew criticism on the program ‘Studio Sti 3’ when he commented on the difficulty of the doctor's transition from a comfortable lifestyle to incarceration, describing the situation as harsh. He clarified that his attempt to view the situation through her eyes was not an act of sympathy, but rather a professional reflex or ‘automatism’ developed through his craft.
