Thodoris Katsafados reflects on childhood poverty in Laconia

Actor Thodoris Katsafados has reflected on his difficult childhood upbringing in a village in Laconia, Greece. As the twelfth child in a large family, he described growing up in a period of significant poverty and hardship spanning the years before and after the war.

Katsafados noted that he had no prior connection to the arts or theater during his youth in the village. He detailed his journey from rural Laconia to Ano Glyfada, which eventually led him into the world of professional theater. He expressed happiness in how his career allowed him to discover himself and new worlds through his work.

Additionally, the actor recalled professional advice from director Takis Mouzenidis received during a production of ‘Da’ with Manos Katrakis. Mouzenidis advised him that while not every professional endeavor would be top-tier, maintaining seriousness, love, and consistency in one's work is what ultimately leaves a lasting impact.
